Job Description
The Department of Nursing Acute and Tertiary Care at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee, is seeking a full-time non-tenure track Instructor. Responsibilities for this role include 95% clinical practice assignment which includes functioning as an Advanced Practice Provider within Pediatric Surgery at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. The incumbent will act as a change agent for patients by incorporating the role of clinical expert, role model, consultant, educator, practitioner, researcher, and nurse leader; provide clinical expertise to patients and families by providing direct and indirect patient care; collaborate with the healthcare team in assessing, designing, implementing, and evaluating population-based programs of patient care to enhance high quality and cost-effective patient outcomes. This position has ample opportunity for academic growth in addition to the opportunity to progress to a terminal nursing degree with options for PhD or DNP tracks. Responsibilities
  1. Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in the assigned division according to approved protocol and acceptable standards.
  2. Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written, approved protocols developed with and under the supervision of the Collaborating Physician. Participates in the design and revision of protocols.
  3. Collaborates with Medical Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, and ancillary personnel as appropriate to promote quality care for patients.
  4. Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care.
  5. Develops strong partnerships with patients, family members, fellow physicians/nurses, and support staff. Focuses on high patient and family satisfaction and retention.
  6. Makes referrals as appropriate.
  7. Additionally, 5% of educational responsibilities in the College of Nursing will be determined in collaboration with the Department Chair and Director of Advanced Practice.

Qualifications
EDUCATION: Master's Degree or higher in a nursing specialty from an accredited university required.

EXPERIENCE: Three years of clinical practice experience at the RN level. Experience in the role of an APRN preferred.

LICENSES: Unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain licensure in Tennessee required.

Current certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner- Acute Care. Current DEA certification and must be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
