Job Description
The Tickle College of Engineering, Office of Student Success at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for a full-time Student Success Recruiter. This position supports the Tickle College of Engineering's Office of Student Success initiatives with a priority on recruitment. The Student Success Recruiter develops and coordinates strategic recruitment initiatives for the college designed to attract competitive in and out of state students. Assists with establishing college recruitment goals by leveraging data from assessments (ACT & SAT) and in collaboration with the university recruitment activities to develop recruitment plans. The recruiter works closely with the Director of Student Success as well as other college units (e.g. Communications, Academic and Student Affairs) in support of long- and short-term goals and activities to enhance recruitment and retention of students. Counsels a diverse set of prospective students and parents. Represents TCE at recruitment events. Supervises the Engineering Ambassador program, including recruitment and training of ambassadors and establishing protocols and schedules. Coordinates and manages recruitment schedule of travel, visits, and general office duties. Prepares documentation and digital content for use in recruitment activities. Keeps a database of activities and reviews and assesses impact of activities through surveys and other data.


Responsibilities
  • Represents TCE at recruitment events.
  • Executes an outreach plan, including outbound contacting of students and counselors.
  • Creates and fosters partnerships with high school counselors, alumni, community college partners, and the community.
  • Gives presentations, support ongoing recruitment events, develop new initiatives, and serves as liaison with faculty and staff involved with the admissions process.
  • Coordinates with the admissions office and the college-relevant offices and student success committees (e.g., Access and Engagement, Communications, Advising) as well as the Academic and Student Affairs main office to stay well informed about college priorities and initiatives to enable strategic planning of annual recruitment activities.
  • Plans and executes the strategic visits and assesses success in the form of an annual report
  • Supervises Engineering Ambassadors, including developing and leading recruitment process; training incoming and returning ambassadors; scheduling tours and visits; approving payroll; providing guidance during weekly staff meetings.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in any field

Experience:
  • 2-4 years of experience in admissions, visitor/information services, outreach, or advising at a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Student worker experience or volunteer work in college admissions, recruitment, and peer counseling/advising will be considered.
  • Corporate recruiting will also be considered if minimum 2-4 years.
  • Experience giving oral presentations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Attention to detail, writing, listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to independently and strategically plan visits, events and presentations for prospective students.
  • Ability to lift, transport and distribute objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Oral presentation/public speaking skills.
  • Knowledge of university admissions process.
  • Ability to problem solve and research solutions.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:
  • Master's Degree in any field

Experience:
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, data driven decision making and relationship building.
  • Territory management, report building and maintenance, and the use of data driven decision making for planning and strategy development.
  • Student worker supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Knowledge of university admissions, financial aid and travel policies.
  • Ability to work with new technologies to enhance recruitment.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • UT market range: MR08
  • Anticipated hiring range: $50,000 - $55,000
