Job Summary:
The School of Medicine (SOM) Assistant Dean, Finance and Administration will be an accomplished healthcare executive with deep operational expertise, financial acumen, and the capacity to lead with vision and inclusiveness in a complex academic health system. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in overseeing operations in a large, complex healthcare organization and a deep understanding of clinical operations, financial management, and the integration of faculty practice into the tripartite mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic advisor to the Executive Vice Dean, contributing to the development and implementation of financial and administrative goals for all portfolios, including clinical management, quality, and research operations.
- Subject matter expert and leader for clinical funds flow design and implementation for the adult practice of CU Anschutz and CU Medicine.
- Represent the SOM by sitting on various committees and serving as the primary liaison with UCHA for funds flow design, operations, and management.
- Serve as the project lead for faculty effort mapping according to specific missions (e.g., clinical, research) and use this data for funds flow purposes.
- Oversee financial operations, financial planning, and resource allocation for the Executive Vice Dean, SOM, and related work streams.
- Implement and operationalize Executive Vice Dean's strategy and planning initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Executive Vice Dean and Health System leaders to validate and approve expected clinical effort, productivity, and benchmarking of clinical performance for faculty, aligning resources with departmental needs.
- Assist the CU SOM finance team with operational aspects and subject matter expertise as it relates to clinical management of the adult practice on UCH and UCHA licensed sites (HOPDs).
- Supervise and assist quality improvement and quality management efforts, including those that relate to UCH and SOM-aligned operations such as quality incentive design, data mapping, and determination of final payouts for performance.
- Support the Executive Vice Dean in developing data, tools, and strategic committees to facilitate clinical operations, performance mapping, and evaluation.
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

- Fifteen (15) years of relevant professional experience in financial administration/management.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting/business/health care management, finance, or a closely related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Twenty (20) years of responsible administrative, financial, and supervisory experience in a university or healthcare setting.
- Prior Experience in academic medicine in project management and strategy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Highly collaborative and effective at building strong working relationships across Institutions and Department Stakeholders.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Strong financial management skills to include a comprehensive understanding of academic medical institution financial structure and operational standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage funds effectively, from a variety of sources and with the use of a variety of financial management software applications.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and present analytical assessments and reports, and to communicate professionally and effectively.
- Demonstrated excellence in establishing work priorities and providing follow-through and meeting established deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully plan, organize, implement, and coordinate financial and administrative activities in a diverse and complicated system.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $137,500 to $180,000 (calculated for 0.5 FTE).
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
