The role of the Academic Dean of Behavioral Science, Public Service and Education is to serve as the educational leader and manager for the disciplines housed within the Division. The Dean will facilitate the vision and strategic direction of the division to deliver curriculum and programming designed to study human behavior, service leadership, and foundation disciplines focused on education, social justice, and civic engagement. The Dean works collaboratively with the faculty to support the design, development, implementation, and assessment of all courses, programs, co-curricular engagement activities, and external partnerships/opportunities associated with the disciplines housed within the Division. The Behavioral Science, Public Service and Education division houses disciplines related (but not limited to) the fields of Education, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Fire Science Technology, Social Justice, Community Organizing, and Public Health.
Responsibilities and Duties: Duties of the Academic Dean of Behavioral Science, Public Service and Education, include, but are not limited to:
- Provide strategic leadership for curriculum development, program review, assessment, and continuous improvement across the Division.
- Oversee academic scheduling and equitable delivery of courses across modalities and campuses (including early college and correctional education).
- Supervise, recruit, evaluate, and develop full-time and adjunct faculty and professional staff; lead search committees and manage workload assignments per collective bargaining agreements.
- Manage Division budget and resource allocation in coordination with Academic Affairs and Grants; participate in procurement and cost center oversight.
- Lead accreditation and program licensing activities; ensure compliance with NECHE, DHE, and relevant professional standards.
- Build and maintain community, transfer, and workforce partnerships (Admissions, Early College, CECE, Grants, Transfer Services) to support enrollment, transfer pathways, and grant opportunities.
- Represent the Division on college committees and support cross-college initiatives that advance student access and equity.

- Awareness of current trends and issues in higher education and community colleges, especially related to student success, pedagogy, assessment, community need for academic programs, and instructional technology.

- Ability to develop, administer, and manage budgets.
- Ability to analyze data and make sound recommendations based on these data to offer viable solutions for complex management and administrative issues.
- Outstanding creativity, attention to detail, and strong customer service skills.
- Strong personnel supervision, team building, and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, listening, facilitation, and public speaking.
- Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Job Requirements:
- Master's degree in higher education, a related field, or a discipline related to the division. Terminal degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years teaching at the college level; community college preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of administrative experience in an academic leadership role at the department chair level and above.
- Demonstrated experience in academic planning, curriculum development, assessment, and faculty supervision.
Preferred:
- Experience in community college settings.
- Familiarity with accreditation processes and workforce/transfer partnerships.
Additional Information:
Position Status: Non-Unit Professional, Full-Time State Funded with Benefits.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday
Salary: $118,462 - $154,003 annually
