The Academic Advisor in the Rollins College of Business will manage an assigned caseload of students to provide comprehensive academic advising for undergraduate business majors. The advisor will meet with each student in their caseload to develop an individualized academic plan, including major specific course planning. Additionally, during the individual meetings, advisors facilitate discussions about the pertinent academic policies, university policies, campus resources, and services that can increase student persistence, student retention, and graduation rates in the college. Academic advisors are responsible for cultivating a learning environment and culture that increases academic success and professional growth. This holistic approach to advising is intended to add value to the student experience in the college and on the campus.
As required, the incumbent will work with colleagues within the success center and in other departments within the Rollins College to process student petitions and appeals in addition to issuing course overrides in accordance with university, college, and departmental guidelines. The advisor will also monitor curricular changes, class schedules, and relevant college and university policies to prevent potential negative impact in student persistence and timely graduation. In the event of a negative impact resulting from changes in the curriculum, a policy, and/or a class schedule, the advisor will collaborate with the Academic Advising Coordinator to rectify the issue(s) and keep the student's trajectory to degree completion on schedule. The advisor may also support recruitment efforts in the college by participating in new student orientation, academic fairs, and other recruiting events with students interested in earning a business degree. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

- Awareness of federal and university guidelines related to educational records, discrimination, and harassment.
- Proficient use of computers and knowledge of the role of software programs used by academic advisors
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree; 2 years of experience in a higher education or similar educational, setting, work with college age students demonstrated ability to provide academic support services, and demonstrated ability to make referrals to appropriate student support services for academic and/or personal concerns reported by students. Student employment, work in student affairs, or other higher education student support services employment that provides comparable skills will be considered in addition to direct experience in advising. Knowledge of and use of electronic file management systems appropriate for an academic setting.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree; 2 years of experience as an academic advisor in a university setting, experience working with transfer and first generation college students; knowledge of Banner, Degree Works and SSC Campus (Navigate) are preferred.
